“Transition for all: the new EBRD Transition Report”

This year’s Transition Report, entitled “Transition for all: Equal opportunities in an unequal world”, focuses on inequality and inclusion in the EBRD region. The analysis draws mainly on the results of the third round of the Life in Transition Survey, a household survey conducted by the EBRD and the World Bank in 34 countries during the first months of 2016. The Transition Reports shows that transition from planned to market economies has been far from smooth, especially in its early years. The social, economic and physical costs of reforms have been so substantial that women and men born at the start of transition are nowadays 1 centimetre shorter than those born before or after! The report focuses on what we can do to help distribute the benefits of growth more equally. Redistributing income can help but the key is to improve people’s opportunities to succeed in life − regardless of their gender, place of birth, or parents’ background.  To achieve this, the region needs improved access to tertiary education, stronger links between secondary education and employment, better infrastructure links and affordable childcare.

  • "I have been recently nominated as the Regional IT Manager for West Africa at Unilever. My CEU Business School education has been a key differentiator during an otherwise very competitive recruitment process. I would like to thank all my great peers of the 2013-14 cohort and the wonderful faculty at the B-School for the valuable learning experience I had during my time in BP."
