Application Checklist

Print Friendly and PDF

Your application consists of the MSc in Finance application form and supporting documentation:

All application materials must be submitted online (reference letters may be mailed by post). Should you need to submit supporting documentation (diploma and transcripts, test score reports) at a later date, please upload a Microsoft Word document stating the expected date of receipt.

CEU does not return application documents, or copies thereof, under any circumstances. Please email us at if you have any questions regarding the application process.

Online application form

Entry in September 2017: Apply here to enter full-time or Apply here to enter part-time

Should you have any questions or issues with the application form, please check the Online Application Form FAQ's.

Please send your application only once you have made sure it is 100% final and complete. You cannot edit an application after it has been submitted. (This may mean you need to work longer on your application, but this is not a problem as long as you meet the application deadline.) You can track your progress and learn the outcome of your application by checking the application form.

Professional resume/CV

Your resume should include details of your full-time and part-time employment record, including the nature of your work, the responsibilities held, and the evolution of your professional activities.

Statement of purpose

This is a required essay explaining your motivation for applying. It should be no longer than two pages.

Copies of bachelor's (or higher) degree diploma and transcripts

You must possess a bachelor's (or higher) degree from an accredited institution, comparable to an approved U.S. bachelor's degree. If you have both a bachelor's and a master's degree, please submit your bachelor's degree.

For the evaluation of the application, please upload a scanned copy of an official English translation of your diploma and transcripts to the online application system. A transcript is an official report supplied by your school on your studies, including subjects studied and grades received.

If you are accepted into the program, you must submit official copies and translations to the Admissions Office by the deadline specified in your Offer Letter.

An official copy:

  • Bears the ink stamp and signature by a public notary or an authorized university official
  • Contains the stamp and signature on each page or over a folded fastened corner of the document.

An official translation:

  • Bears the ink stamp and signature of a sworn translator or an authorized university official
  • Contains the stamp and signature on each page or over a folded fastened corner of the document
  • Includes a statement of authenticity on the last page.

You must ensure that EITHER the stamp OR the signature is in color (black ink is not acceptable).

For more information about the official academic records requirement, please go to the main CEU website.

Two reference letters

You must arrange two letters of recommendation from professors or professional supervisors who are familiar with your academic and/or professional abilities and character. The letters should be in English and sent directly by your referees. The letters should assess your ability to conduct graduate-level work, and your potential for a successful professional career.  We do not accept letters whose contents are known to you.

We strongly encourage that referees submit their reference letters online. Letters sent by postal mail take longer to process, and are often delayed, misdelivered, or lost in transit. The application form will guide you through the process of setting up your referees to submit their letters. For assistance with the form, please go here.

GMAT/GRE score report or CFA/ACCA exam reports, if applicable

A competitive GMAT or GRE General Test score is one of several admission criteria we use to assess applicants. Please forward your results to CEU Business School (GMAT institutional code: 0203, GRE institutional code: 7723).

As an alternative to the GMAT or GRE you may take CEU's online mathematics test, similar to the quantitative section of the GMAT. The test may be taken by appointment after we have received your application. It is conducted via video call. For sample questions please email us at

Applicants who meet all of the following requirements may be waived the test by the Admissions Committee:

  • Have a bachelor's (or higher) degree from a reputable institution in business, economics, statistics, computer science, engineering, mathematics, social sciences, the physical sciences, or another quantitative-oriented field

  • "I have been recently nominated as the Regional IT Manager for West Africa at Unilever. My CEU Business School education has been a key differentiator during an otherwise very competitive recruitment process. I would like to thank all my great peers of the 2013-14 cohort and the wonderful faculty at the B-School for the valuable learning experience I had during my time in BP."
