Event: CEU Partners with FinTechShow 2017, Hungary's Definitive FinTech Event
April 11, 2017

 
CEU was proud to be strategic academic partner to FinTechShow 2017, headlined by global
fintech influencer
Devie Mohan.

The event featured 300 participants, three fintech accelerators, and 15 of Hungary’s most
promising fintech startups including banking chatbot creators Talk-A-Bot - a venture of CEU
alumni and incubated in CEU’s startup incubator, the InnovationsLab.

Peter Szilagyi presented on the global and Hungarian fintech ecosystem, and served on the judging

Peter Szilagyi's research paper "Creditor Rights, Claims Enforcement, and Bond Performance in Mergers and Acquisitions" has been accepted for publication in the Journal of International Business Studies. The paper has recently been featured in the Harvard Law School Forum on Corporate Governance and Financial Regulation.

Journal of International Business Studies ranks among the 33 “World Elite” 4* journals in the CABS Academic Journal Guide, and is one of 50 journals tracked by the Financial Times and 24 journals tracked by University of Texas, Dallas to compile global business school rankings.

Research: Peter Szilagyi in Journal of Business Ethics on Insider Trading in FX Markets
January 27, 2017

Peter Szilagyi's research paper "When Kamay Met Hill: Organization Ethics in Practice" has been accepted for publication in the Journal of Business Ethics. The paper investigates insider trading in notoriously opaque foreign exchange markets.

Journal of Business Ethics is the top journal in business ethics, and one of the FT50 used by the Financial Times to compile global business school rankings.

Event: Peter Szilagyi at MKB Fintech Academy on Old v New Financial Intermediaries  
November 7, 2016

The MKB Fintech Academy is a series of events launching MKB Bank's four-phase fintech program aimed at establishing a 21st century digital bank. MKB Bank is preparing to launch its fintech startup incubator in early 2017. 

Peter Szilagyi presented on disintermediation in the financial sector as a result of fintech disruption. He was also in the panel of the Academy's fintech startup competition, the largest such competition in Hungary so far.

Article: Doing Dim Sum - Why Hungary Issued Yuan Eurobonds by Peter Szilagyi

Article in Budapest Business Journal. It is well-known that the Dim Sum issue was not exactly cost-driven. While an April 14 bond issue might not have made immedate business sense, it is apperantly an inverstment in future cooperation.

MSc in Finance: CEU Business School Forms MSc in Finance Advisory Committee

The Advisory Committee is a working group of senior executives committed to developing the MSc in Finance into one of Europe’s leading finance masters. The Committee will meet 3-4 times a year to set professional standards, advise on and contribute to the curriculum, help establish industry connections, and assist with internships and careers.

XpatLoop, the website of Budapest’s expat community, has interviewed Peter Szilagyi. Peter talks about finance and its importance to both individuals and companies in today’s post-crisis world. He also discusses the MSc in Finance program, his career and his personal interests.

 

Peter Szilagyi held a talk on the economic implications of the ongoing refugee crisis at Budapest Economic Forum, Portfolio’s annual economic summit. Peter spoke about the economic implications of the current refugee crisis.

Research: Botond Kőszegi wins Yrjö Jahnsson Award
March 17, 2015

 
The 2015 Yrjö Jahnsson Selection Committee has awarded Professor Botond Kőszegi the 2015 prize
for his contribution to the theoretical foundations of behavioral economics, and its application to public
finance and contract theory.

His research on reference-dependent preferences extends the concept of loss aversion by determining
the reference point endogenously.
