An Institute for Entrepreneurship and Innovation Roundtable Event

This roundtable focuses on an important convergence that promises to transform healthcare and medical treatment, thereby opening up new opportunities in business worldwide and in Central and Eastern Europe specifically. This convergence involves rapid progress in medical equipment and instrumentation, IP-based communications, cloud computing and our increased capacity to analyze complex medical information. Advances are also taking place in computerized tomography, magnetic resonance imaging, other increasingly sophisticated instrumentation and sensor technology areas and our ability to analyze a growing mass of data. When these vastly heightened measuring capabilities are combined with our growing understanding of human genetics and potential connections of explicit genetic profiles with specific diseases like diabetes, heart problems and new-born-child illnesses, significant improvement will likely occur in upgrading health and reducing sicknesses.

All such developments promise to prevent and cure specific diseases and reduce the cost of healthcare services, thus opening up vast and new playing fields for larger firms, SMEs and startups. These forces also create the need for effective integration of diverse actors—including medical professionals—and institutions and the design and management of complex systems and processes.

This roundtable will identify the shape and key attractive features of this new business and innovation landscape and will discuss associated new opportunities and key challenges that we are now confronting .

Members of the roundtable panel represent relevant experts, business leaders and entrepreneurs, including:

  • General Electric Co.: Joerg Bauer, President, GE Hungary
  • IBM Inc.: Ferenc Pongracz, Managing Director, Information Services Center Hungary
  • Nuance-Recognita: Dr. Akos Reszler, President
  • Moderator: Charles Huebner, Senior Executive on Board at CEU Business School I-Lab
  • An Institute for Entrepreneurship and Innovation Roundtable Event

  • "I have been recently nominated as the Regional IT Manager for West Africa at Unilever. My CEU Business School education has been a key differentiator during an otherwise very competitive recruitment process. I would like to thank all my great peers of the 2013-14 cohort and the wonderful faculty at the B-School for the valuable learning experience I had during my time in BP."
